Whatever voted most annoying word in conversation in a Marist College Poll. The next five most annoying words or phrases were:
- "you know"
- "it is what it is"
- "anyway"
- "at the end of the day".
Personally I find "you know" inserted after every other word to be way more annoying than "whatever".

FINALLY! A DOCTOR WHO MAKES HOUSE-CALLS!
Hi StaceyAnn, You know, not much really bothers me. Anyway, I'm just happy to have people talk to me, at the end of the day, that's what really counts. I don't like it when my husband says- it is what it is - but whatever! :-)
Actually the word that bothers me the most is "Actually" :-)
Umm I Umm Anyway Umm You know Umm. LOL I think the one that bothers me most is the word F*** inserted every other word. Too many people use it like an adjective or an adverb( F***in') today. I could really do without it.
The word "ok, a few inserts of this into a conversation is "ok", but after a while it seems that they are not really listeing to me, only injecting it after each point made to pretend to be attentive.
