I tried a new salon today. Does my hair look good? Absolutely!!!
Will I ever go back there? Not likely!!!!!
I walked into the salon and got my hair washed. At no time while this was going on did anyone speak to me. Instead all the stylists spoke to each other in Spanish, sang along with the radio, or talked on their phones.
I was put under what had to be the hottest drier in history. There was a point where I actually thought I was going to die. No one checked on me to make sure I was ok in the hour I sat under there.
Mercifully, the drier turned off and I was moved to a chair. A new stylist was responsible for using the blow drier and flat iron to finish my hair. The only thing she said to me was "Curly or straight?"
She was using the flat iron and at one point when separating my hair she handed me the hot flat iron - I was supposed to hold it for her when she didn't need it.
At one point she even coughed without covering her mouth or even turning her head in a direction away from me.
The final straw came when she touched my ear not once or twice but three times with the hot flat iron.
I paid $65 to get my hair done today. I have paid way more than that to get my hair done in the past but $65 is not cheap to me so I don't expect to be treated with such disdain.
What did I learn? The customer experience is as important as the final product.

FINALLY! A DOCTOR WHO MAKES HOUSE-CALLS!
Information deemed reliable but not guaranteed!

Stacy, I know what you mean. I'm not calling names, but I too experienced what I call an assembly line salon. No personal interaction with the client - just straight or curly and after it was over my hair my looked good, but I never went back.
Seems like a Tabitha Salon Take-Over BEFORE episode....they know my name when I take my dogs, my nails, my toes and my hair in to be done....
Denise - I wonder if it was the same place :-)
Wallace - Definitey a before episode. These people probably couldn't have picked me out of a line up if their lives depended on it.
Oh, Stacey-Ann, that is just awful! Talk about truly appalling customer service, they clearly do not care about repeat business - not that they have ever gotten any!
It could have been even worse . . . you could have had a bad hair day!! Glad you are happy with how you hair came out!! I've had the other side of the coin . . . bad hair cut / sytle, but great customer service. I'd put up with the bad customer service if the hair came out okay. But you're right, customer service goes a long, long way to repeat business!!
Yikes. Why were you trying something new? You are a brave woman. Head to yahoo and write a review.
Hello Stacey ... I really like your post, and what a brave young lady you were!
