Usain Bolt - Wow!!!

Usain Bolt has to be one of the most electrifying athletes that we have seen from the Olympics in many years.  His performances are both exciting and awe-inspiring.  Triple gold and triple world-records are un-heard of.  His talent as well as the talent of the other successful Jamaican athletes have brought the focus of the world onto the excellent track program that Jamaica has had for many years.

I know many people have criticized Usain for show-boating.  I think that shows his immaturity.  I can only imagine what he will be like when he has matured into his talent.  Today it was announced that he has donated $50,000 to the earthquake victims in China.  I think he is basically a good guy with an extr-ordinary talent.  I hope that people do not mistake his youthful enthusiasm for anything sinister.

All of Jamaica couldn't be any prouder of Bolt, Powell, Fraser, Campbell, Stewart, and all the other athletes that have done us proud this year.

Is he talented, or does he just have the longest legs and the longest stride in the history of humanity? LOL To watch him take one stride to everyone else's two or three was just amazing. Usually tall people are not very good at running because of their long legs, but he really understands running and appropriate leg and arm coordination. Just a beautiful runner.

Amazing talent takes a little while to grow into.  Some people just like to find fault...me...I admire great talent and he deserves to act out a bit.  Don't you think?

low class, exudes the exact opposite of what the olympics is all about. good sportsmanship should never be overlooked. he is young hopefully he will learn the error of his ways.

He is by far one of the best athletes of all time. Truly amazing. I say let him gloat a little , he earned it with gallons of sweat and hard work

Stacy-Ann,

Great post. If the only memory we had of Bolt at the Olympics was his 100m race, we might think him to be too full of himself or lacking focus with his talent. But then we saw him in other events and heard him speak. He likes to have fun, but he's classy.

Stacey-Ann...

He is electrifying, and he seems beloved by teammates and competitors alike so I think that he is just happy-go-lucky and people should not try to change him.

I really, really, really wish we could have seen the USA in the relay finals. Now THAT would have been exciting!

I am amazed at how many people have commented negatively on Bolt's activities without expressing any curiousity or knowledge about the Jamaican people and the culture from which Bolt hails.  These two links will help to clarify who Bolt is, the culture from which he hails and why Jamaicans excel regardless of where they are:

Russell - It is unusual for a sprinter to be so tall.

Ardell - I agree, he deserves some celebration time.

Michael - I think we'll just have to agree to disagree.  I don't see Bolt as low class in any way.

Trey - I agree that he definitely one of the best of all time.

Steve - He is apparently a playful and fun-loving guy.

Richard - I agree those finals would have been interesting.  I feel so sorry for athletes when things like dropping the batton occur.

Marcia - I see you are a fellow yardie.

I don't care what anyone else says, he still doesn't compare to MICHAEL PHELPS!

Michael - I think comparing Phelps & Bolt is like comparing apples & oranges.  I think they are both phenomenal athletes who have experienced spectacular accomplishments this year.

Ussain Bolt was absolutely amazing.  I knew he could get the 100, but I thought no one would be able to touch Michael Johnson's 200 record.  It is unreal!  I hope he's clean, I truely think he is, b/c that means I just saw the two most amazing races in history.  He redeemed himself in the 200m after his showboating in the 100.  I think a few veterans got his ear and straightened him out

Scary thing is, he hasn't even peaked yet!

Casey - Can you imagine hoe great he can be when he grows into his talent.  I agree with you I hope he keeps himself clean and doesn't tarnish his accomplishments.
