My family and I attended the Bowie International Festival this past weekend. It was held on Saturday at the Allen Pond Park. The weather was wonderful and it was a great day to be outside. We were able to sample food from many different countries (I had Thai food). There were also vendors and displays representing many different cultures. The highlights of the festival were the performances, including a steel drum band from Trinidad and Ukrainian dancers.
It was really nice to be out seeing so many people celebrating our diversity.
In the meantime, we also discovered this fabulous park. We are new to the area so we had never been there. The kids really enjoyed the playground. There were several soccer fields, basketball courts, skate-board and ice-skating rinks. In the center of the park is a great lake where you are able to rent paddle boats.
This was our first trip to the Allen Pond park but it will definitely not be our last, and we plan to be there for next year's international festival.

Stacey-Ann-
I used to live in Calvert County, MD and have several friends in Bowie. It certainly a nice place with some very nice parks.
Stacey-Ann, that sounds like an absolutely lovely place to visit with the family. :-)
Hi Stacey-Ann This really sounds like fun. Next time take some pics for us to see. Have a great Wednesday.
Bryant - we are learning some of the great things about Bowie.
C - It was a great place for the family.
